How much fat is in diets

Traditional forage/concentrate-based diets typically have a low fat concentration (around 3% of diet dry matter), reflecting the low levels of fat in green forages and cereals (Figure 1). However, by-product-type ingredients (e.g. brewer’s or distiller’s grains) contain much higher levels of fat and these, along with liquid vegetable or fish oils, can increase total fat concentration in diets.
